Welcome to West Village
The West Village is one of the most historic and beautiful neighborhoods in New York. The streets are lined with prewar brownstones and low level buildings many that don’t exceed 12 stories. Despite some newer buildings starting to be built the neighborhood associations and landmark agencies work to maintain the historic framework of the area. The West Village is typically defined as bordering 14th Street to Houston Street, and from the Hudson River to 5th Avenue. Many parks are in the area including Washington Square Park, Abingdon Square, James J. Walker Park, Bleecker Park, Jackson Square, and the newly created Highline Elevated Park, which begins at Gansevoort Street and runs north into Chelsea. Great restaurants and quaint neighborhood shops highlight the area.
